El Parador Café was established in 1959 and is the oldest Mexican restaurant in New York City. Respected as having the best Margaritas in the city by New York Press and the best Ceviche by The New York Times. Carlos Jacott founded El Parador in the fifties and nurtured the original establishment on 2nd Avenue and 31st Street. Needing more room for growth, the location was moved to our present address at 325 East 34th Street.
While Carlos was deemed Maitre D' par excellence, he made his mark as an all-time great restaurateur. He sold his successful enterprise to Manuel Alejandro in 1990, who has maintained it's standards and atmosphere ever since. The torch has now been passed to Manny's son, Alex, where he continues to broaden El Parador's customer base and grow it's following through an excellent menu and warm atmosphere.
El Parador is an institution dedicated to culture, care, and warmth. We're prized for our romantic and inviting atmosphere as many of our customers have gotten engaged, married and have held their most intimate gatherings here. Forty-five years ago a child would have been escorted into our kitchen for salsa and chips. Today their children and grandchildren, second and third generation customers, frequent our establishment.
Enjoy the El Parador experience. You'll find the best traditional and contemporary Mexican cuisine and finest selection of world-class wines and tequilas. See for yourself. We're at your service. We're El Parador, the most accommodating restaurant in New York. The answer is yes. What's your question?
